I Need You More Than I Love You and I Love You to Bits

When Morris meets Betty, love is unavoidable. In short prose passages, we get to follow the course of their passionate love. This is a very confident debut written in a way that surprises the reader. The author has provided us with a miniature prose version of the entire book:
“Morris and Betty”, he says as he puts his hands over her eyes and tells the story.
“Now we are in a film and the story is about us, about a couple who find each other in the first scene. All the other people are colored grey, and we are as red as cherries. In one scene that is shown on the trailer, he says that they belong together just like milk and honey.”
He takes his hands away from her eyes. “Something sad has to happen too, otherwise nobody will want to see the film.”
“Okay, his dad is a mano-depressive and his mum is a complete nutter.”

“No nothing boring like that, it has to be something to cry about, otherwise it won’t be a real love story. The ending has to be sad.”

“No, they are going to live happily ever after.”
